Unico is a character your host had little to no knowledge of, being an Osamu Tezuka creation from the mid-seventies. The new graphic novel with art by the award winning Gurihiru team is a new continuation of Unico's adventures, aimed at a younger audience but effectively readable by nearly all ages. Unico is a magical unicorn that's made a few enemies just by being NICE. There's an awful lot of core morals to Unico and it's one breath of fresh air to read about a brave and beatific character like Unico. Sam Sattin and his art team really stand out here, and I think his creator would be quite proud of the ambitious achievement within. Learn along with me as Sam and I get heavy into manga, comics, and cute unicorns for an hour!
https://wesu.streamrewind.com/https://wesu.streamrewind.com/bookmarks/listen/412620 Sun, 21 Jul 2024 18:30:00 GMT Pint O' Comics Episode 332 w/ G. Carl was the Music Director for Leon Schlesinger's studio, who did the animated shorts for Warner Bros. From the mid-thirties to the late fifties, Carl made music for almost every animated cartoon for WB, producing a body of work that transcends orchestral style. It is unlikely any of the Warner Bros. characters would have turned out the same without the notes, cues, and music that Carl Stalling put to the craziness we were entertained with. Enjoy this celebration of an incredibly talented man.
https://wesu.streamrewind.com/https://wesu.streamrewind.com/bookmarks/listen/337832 Sun, 14 Nov 2021 18:30:00 GMT Pint O' Comics Episode 180 w/Tim Eldred https://wesu.streamrewind.com/https://wesu.streamrewind.com/bookmarks/listen/321505
Tim Eldred has a long and storied career in everything we cover at Pint O' Comics, but he has been involved in one aspect this show has severely lacked featuring in any form: anime.
