Well, imagine that in 1778 at the height of the American Revolution. Toss in a teenager, sex, and a detailed court case, and you have all the pinnings of a movie-of-the-week on every network. Bathsheba Spooner was a well-off married mother with a heavy pedigree, so the bizarre circumstances in the death of her husband has become New England legend. Andrew Noone's new book BATHSHEBA SPOONER: A REVOLUTIONARY MURDER CONSPIRACY is available now, and we discuss it in detail on this episode. Derek White, aka The Geekpreacher, frequent guest on Pint O' Comics, is a large part of this documentary. He brings his skillful knowledge to the program as we wind our way through a very strange time in gaming and history.
https://wesu.streamrewind.com/https://wesu.streamrewind.com/bookmarks/listen/368733 Sun, 20 Nov 2022 18:30:00 GMT Pint O' Comics Episode 251 w/ Jim Ottaviani https://wesu.streamrewind.com/https://wesu.streamrewind.com/bookmarks/listen/368226
Jim Ottaviani's gt-labs publications have been of interest to me since they first became known to me, as unusual graphic novels focusing on science and scientists. Since First Second Books started publishing his work, he's only become much more well received, complete with a best-seller. His newest graphic novel, with artist Jerel Dye, is due out this week. It's called EINSTEIN and this show focuses on it in a jammed full hour of science, comic books, and fun.
https://wesu.streamrewind.com/https://wesu.streamrewind.com/bookmarks/listen/368226 Sun, 13 Nov 2022 18:30:00 GMT Pint O' Comics Episode 247 w/ Edmund Trueman https://wesu.streamrewind.com/https://wesu.streamrewind.com/bookmarks/listen/366183
POSTCARDS FROM CONGO is the latest book from the man AKA Junk Comix, Edmund Trueman. It's a brief history of the African nation of Congo, and the tumult the people in the region have had to survive since European intrusion. Lushly, colorfully illustrated, it's a great read for people with no knowledge of what's been going on there for the past 200 years, and even a great refresher for folks that do know. It contains a fully fleshed out bibliography for readers interested in doing deeper investigation, with notations from Edmund. Due out in November in North America from Arsenal Pulp Press, I think listeners will enjoy this discussion.

**AUDIO NOTE** Unfortunately this recording was difficult to edit with some unusual echo on my end and I erred in running the raw recording for the first half of the show. I'll run the proper edit after two weeks on the Pint O' Comics website. Apologies to both Edmund and Arsenal Pulp Press!
https://wesu.streamrewind.com/https://wesu.streamrewind.com/bookmarks/listen/366183 Sun, 16 Oct 2022 18:30:00 GMT Pint O' Comics Episode 241 w/ Mathew Klickstein https://wesu.streamrewind.com/https://wesu.streamrewind.com/bookmarks/listen/362660
After meeting Mathew Klickstein at Terrificon this year and learning of the work he has coming up and the work he's done in the past, there was no way I couldn't have him on as guest. Neal Adams revolutionized the comic art form in the late 60's and early 70's, breaking open set layout standards and bringing a fresh look to comic books, becoming a force of nature hard to match. George Perez did things with comic book crowds few other artists have ever been able to duplicate, and his work was in demand right up to the day he retired. It was a rough week for fans, and we didn't even get a moment to bring up James Bama.
