Episode: Acoustic Blender - Middletown Sacred Harp Singers live in the studio

"Sacred Harp singing is a tradition of sacred choral music that took root in the Southern region of the United States. It is part of the larger tradition of shape note music. Sacred Harp music is performed a cappella ... and originated as Protestant Christian music. The songs sung are primarily from the book The Sacred Harp." - Wikipedia

This kind of music is not something one will normally hear on the radio (understatement!), but Tuesday evening, the Middletown Sacred Harp Singing group will be live in the studio on WESU's "Acoustic Blender." Tune in at 6:30p.m. to 88.1 FM or streaming (and archived) at www.wesufm.org and join host Bill Revill along with the Middletown Sacred Harp Singing group in a live performance of this uniquely American music form.

In the second half of the show, we'll also squeeze in some music from Tony Rice [the "Give Back to Tony Rice" concert in Hamden is this Saturday] Loretta Lynn (just had a birthday) and music from folks playing in the area.
