Tuesday again and its ACOUSTIC BLENDER night. Tom Callinan, the first official Connecticut State Troubadour, will joining us in the WESU’s studios starting at 5:05. Tom has recently released not one, but two CDs, “Salute To The Naval & Maritime Services” and “The Forlorn Soldier [And Other Songs From & About The Civil War]”. Tom, a former teacher, is a font of knowledge about Connecticut’s history that will be amply demonstrated on the show.

As a bonus, Joe Crookston will be calling in a bit later on the show around 6:45; he has two Connecticut shows coming up, one at the Sounding Board in West Hartford this Saturday, and one at the Blues Café in Southbury on January 31st. We’ll play a set of his music just in case you don’t know his work.

Besides that, Dolly Parton has a landmark birthday today which we will be observing, a great new single from Loretta Lynn (with assist from Elvis Costello), music from folks playing in the area (like the Steel Wheels), some new releases, a lot to squeeze in during our last three hour show … for a while (next week, back to the usual 6:30 – 8:00 slot).
