Episode: TBC045_Simon & Garfunkel & the folk rock of the 60s

With the release of their first single, Sounds of Silence, Simon & Garfunkel (along with Bob Dylan*) became associated with the transition from Folk to Folk Rock, simultaneously giving popular music new weight and folk music which was always thoughtful, a needed shot in the arm! Critics and the public alike began to take popular music more seriously, which in turn paved the way for the many singer songwriters and recording artists that followed. Join me next week to celebrate the music of Simon & Garfunkel and those of their “tribe”! (*Mr. Bob Dylan will be for another time!)
